Has anyone tried connecting their iPhone 3G to a VaisTechSL2i? When i plug my iPhone in to my VaisTechSL2i my iPhone reads that the connected hardware is not supported. My iPhone is 100% up-to-date WRT the software/firmware installed.
...any help or suggestions would be much appreciated...

Thanks in advance
Most ipod attachments charge using firewire on the dock port.
the 3G iphone dropped support for charging this way.
Hence, you get that message.
It should still work fine to play music, but it won't charge the phone.
There's an adapter that will let it work to charge as well (I'm using one on my belkin ipod car kit)- dunno if VAIS will offer you one for free or if they charge for it though. It's around 30-40 bucks in the aftermarket.
i thought Vais SL2i Allows for charging as well...
At the time SL2i was released iPhone 3G didn't exist. When iPhone 3G was released in June of 2008, everyone discovered that 12V charging was discontinued and 5V/USB charging is the only option to charge iPhone 3G. To address this issue we released SL2i-UP, which charges new iPod/iPhone models as well as the old ones.
So if you have SL2i, then in order to upgrade it to SL2i-UP, you just need to get a new cable that goes from SL2i box to your iPod/iPhone.
If you have either SLi or SL2Vi then new cables are not available, but we came up with a small add-on adapter - UPA5V. It'll connect between existing iPod connector and your iPod/iPhone and will let you charge new iPod/iPhone models.
