Default Confusing Lexus Dealership?? (TPMS)

Im getting new tires for my other set of rims and have another set of TPMS sensors from another lexus off ebay. My question is should I have the place im buying the tires from install the TPMS senors. Or just get the tires and not install them on the rims and take the rims, TPMS sensors and tires to lexus and have them do it?

Lexus is already telling me its going to cost me $120 to just link the second set of TPMS sensors to my car is that right?

I dont know about your dealership, but I had my dealership install the TPMS (ebay) and link to my car both for 120$ CAN total (I even ask them to write me down both set TMPS code for record). If not too much work to bring it in, better off have the dealership install for you, aleast they can test the TPMS before hand.

call lexus first, they told me if u bring the sensors in and they have to take tires off and remount it they were going to charge an extra 250-300 for the mounting and balancing. If you install the tpms b4 u go to lexus to program make sure you write down all of the serial #'s , b/c that is what they use to reprogram the new sensors.

Also i got quoted $150-200 for the reprogram and think that is dumb. You should call around to auto shops that do work on lexus cars. I found a shop that has the cable and willing to do it for around $50.

why is it so expensive just to "link" the 2nd set back up with the car??

do you all think its better to just buy a 2nd set or take off the ones from the oem tire/wheel and use them for the new setup?

I would just have Lexus link your sensors and find a cheaper shop to mount and balance the tires. The weather is almost starting to look nice, gotta be getting excited! Let me know what Lexus charges you for the TPMS, I have to do the same thing this week.

by the sound of it, linking up is something that cant be a "DIY" project?

noob question, do you have to unmount the rims/tires to take the sensors off?

The reason why dealerships charge soo much, is because they can...

Entering the sensor codes requires access to a factory scan tool (Toyota Techstream), which will set you back around six grand.

You can even call nearby Toyota dealers and get a quote for registering TPMS to your car. I got mine registered for 30 bucks. It varies btw dealerships. Toyota is usually cheaper, Lexus dealer quoted me $95 I believe.
