yeah but it seems normal. the whine follows the rpm. i dont really hear it all the time now due to the fact i have a k&n typhoon intake and play loud music on occasion haha. in addition, i am installing a greddy evo3 so probs not going to hear it much anymore lol. I dont think the whining is of any concern. i just had a 90k mile service and my mechanic/family friend for 25 yrs told me all is good. so i trust him. also asked my friend who has 2011 fspot 250 and he said its normal.

I think this is normal. Mine does it, follows rpms, and I don't mind it at all. I've heard other cars do it to (camaro in particular). My car runs just fine. I hear the same noise whether its 8 degrees or 60. Admittedly I always thought it was the intake.

Is it a DIY install, or did you have to go to the dealership?

VERY DIY!! It's very simple.....For added work room remove intake scoop on front, and then with a 14 cube pull back the tensioner and just remove the drive belt from the alternator pulley to create slack, and with that same 14 cube remove the idler pulley! and like magic annoying whining sound gone lol i wish i knew how to work this forum to post pics up and helpful tips....i'll try my best to put up the pics!!

A trick I learned some time ago if you have a whine and are not sure if it is related to belts, alternator, AC, PS or pulleys is to remove the S-belt and start the engine for a short period and listen.

Okay, I want to do this but have a few questions:

1. What the hell is a 14 cube? Is it the 14MM socket?

2. How do I identify the tensioner?

3. How do I identify the idler pulley?

LMAO!! sorry for that whole "cube" thing...yea i meant socket.....and yes you will use a 14 mm socket on the RED ARROW tensioner...and I believe its either a 15 mm or 16mm on the GREEN ARROW idler pulley.... Really hope this help and by the way just found out damn powertrain warranty covers it!!!!!

All of the Toyota 2GR-FSE have the same whining noise - the emitter of the noise is the very high pressure mechanical fuel pump located on the right side of the engine. It is driven by a camshaft. Low pressure electric fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.

Yes, it is perfectly normal.

Default 2011 is350 f-sport lots of miles.

Ok first of let me start by saying sorry for reviving this old thread but say i have some answers. This whining sound that comes from the hood when you rev on ferrari time in your mind, and give it full throttle the engine will create whiiinnnnnninggg 1 gear whiininngggg 2nd gear whiineeeee 4th hear kinda slowers it self when u release the gas. But that my friends is the transmission. It needs oil. Or do a transmission flush and refill to manual specs... if you know what you are doing.. cost? 20 bucks done on your own property.. after you do this add lucus tramission oil additive to keep it from wearing and well lubricated and waamoo no more whining.. cheers!!!

You shouldn't be able to hear the injectors ticking from inside the car. If you can hear the whining inside the car and its not coming from the speakers, could be a belt or the alternator.
