Default Need Axles replaced

I think I need my axles replaced. When I turn I hear clicking noises coming from the suspension on my driver side. Anyone know a rough estimate of how much it costs to get replaced? I know I can order the part from sewell for a little cheaper.

I had this happen to me after my accident, the cause of the problem was from the hub or something. I was quoted $700 by South Bay Lexus, but I got it replaced under my accident warranty by Longo Lexus.

Are you sure it's a problem with your axles? Maybe you should have it looked at before you go ordering a $700 part.

I'm pretty positive that its the axles. It makes clicking/popping noises when I'm making 3/4 way turns and accelerating or reversing slowly. I tried to bring it in before and of course the golden excuse "We couldn't duplicate the problem." I'll try to bring it in again when I have free time.

I brought it to the dealership once and they said that they it was normal..... (longo collision) but when I brought it over to South Bay Lexus they actually took the wheel off to check and that's how they found the problem... by physically checking the part.. so maybe you should have them take it apart to look at it. And i think I was quoted $600-700 for just one side

If the service department has a hard time hearing it I doubt the axles need to be replaced.

No clue. It's weird though. I brought my car in for something else and told them about it. I came back to pick it up and what did you know, the clicking was gone for a couple days. Then it came back. Maybe I'll check the axles this weekend. Thanks for your inputs. But the clicking was really loud, you could hear it trust me. When I went to drop off the car and had to make a big U turn, I am sure that the service department guys heard it.

Hey dit-350,...you know that our cars dont use a front CV axle shaft assy. Assuming you have a IS350. We do have a split shaft in the rear of our cars but in the front it's just your rack and pinion assy. CV axles do make that infamous click&pop noise while turning due the internal slipping of the CV joint cage bearings. But our cars dont use a CV axle shaft in the front....Just the AWD250's. If you have a click noise while turning..you might want to check the upper plates of your struts. They have a simular noise. But not hub bearings..they usally make a growling noise while shifting from side to side or while driving foward...but they dont click. Its rare the rear axle can do this since they have no turning radius which can cause the click noise due to the extention of the joint.
Good luck!

Considering you have an IS350, you don't have axles in the front, not even half-shafts. If anything this noise is contributed by either one of your power steering rack components or the brake components. Have someone else diagnose your vehicle because it's not your axles "clicking."

Wow. I was just about to go downstairs and take a look also. Thanks a lot for the info! And thanks to you also eric. If it's the struts, do you think it will go away once I install coilovers? It gets a little annoying and embarrassing to drive around with the noise, especially coming from such a new car. I will try to bring it back to Lexus sometime next week.
