Default Testors Spray Transparent Candy Apple Red

Has anyone used this on your Lexus rear tails?

On a few of my older cars back when I was a teenager (mostly Honda and Acura) we used to use this stuff to red-out our taillights. It worked perfectly! Not sure if people still use this at all or how well it works on the Lexus tails, but I assume it would work just as good.

Would you want a $4 spray paint ruin your $30+K car?

while yes redouts would work fine, however there was a time when that was the best way to redout your tailights. when there were no such thing as aftermarket tails, or anything like that. man, that brought me back.

Just go with vinyl redouts since you can remove them later on.

I agree that things have changed, but 10 years ago this stuff worked good and I cant imagine it working any worse now. Vinyl just seems cheap and not withstanding to the Seattle elements.

Also, people knocking paint for its 4.00 cost should consider how much that vinyl you are buying really costs ;-)

i live in the northeast, and i have had my red outs on for about 40K miles so far. no signs of peeling or color change. they have been through winters with snow on them and hot summers, not a single issue with them.

I used the candy apple spray on my old Celica and it worked fine and looked fine. Just remove the tail light, tape off the unpainted area and spray until the red is roughly the same color. I think about 2-3 coats on my Celica was sufficient. I have the Vinyl Redouts now and they also work just as well. I live in ohio and the car came from chicago and the vinyl has held up just fine through 25K miles.

I also used this paint back in the day on my celica and yes it did work just fine, however the redout vinyls work and look even better...i was surprised when i first installed the red outs because they matched perfect with the rest of the tail lights on the IS..the best part is the installation time...I would recommend you try out the vinyl red outs first and if you don't like it then take back to the old school and paint them...it's your car

see i knew that other people used to use the paint. people also used to use that paint brand to paint their interior bulbs and other bulbs different colors. there was a time that if you wanted blue bulbs for example, the only way to do it was to remove them and paint them. before there was colored glass bulbs besides clear or amber.
