I have 07' IS250 with non-ML Navi with no navi-hack, so everything is how it came as brand new.
I recently noticed that the navigation reads my current location incorrectly.
For example, when I'm in NYC at 15th street, it reads my location as 17th.
I thought this was happening because of many tall buildings around.
However, it happened again on hwy that had no building around. Because of this, I had to circle around twice to get on the right hwy.
Yes, I became very dumb that I can't find the way without navi.
My question is..
Did anyone experience this problem? How did you get it fixed/resolved?
I know that I can simply take it to the dealer, but I want to get some knowledge on this issue, so that they don't just push me to buy the update map DVD for $300+, which I don't think is a problem solver.
Thanks
Can you verify that you're receiving your GPS signal? You should see the letters "GPS" in the top left part of the screen. I had a similar problem that Lexus service was able to resolve for free.

It shouldn't be THAT far off if there's no signal.

happens to me on occasion - always in the same spot - and it is off about 1000 feet or so, sometimes more. almost like it thinks it has a GPS signal and really doesnt so it gets confused. i agree that with the hult in dead reckoning it should never be that far off. thats why im thinking that it believes it has a signal and really doesnt.

Actually, it can drift VERY far off without a GPS lock, when I had the buggy software (and would go days without a valid GPS lock) I remember the system showing me driving out to sea. In any case, the most important piece of information when troubleshooting this kind of problem is knowing whether that "GPS" indicator is present -- it should appear within about 30 seconds of starting the car, and remain present except when driving in a parking structure or an area with lots of skyscrapers.
