For all four tires I walked out the door for $660. Took some negotiating but Discount Tire matched the Tire Rack prices and I also haggled on the installation costs.

 

You're lucky - Discount Tire here in NC won't even match their OWN mail order price (let alone TireRack's) and the only thing they will negotiate on is the road hazard warranty (4 for the price of 2).

I have them on my 335i and really like them. They are a street tire only but being M+S rated, they will be safe to drive in temps under 40
degrees F. BUT I probably won't put them on my wife's IS250 AWD when the Bridgestones wear out. In my area, I need a tire that will actually go in occasional snow conditions. Even though the General Exclaim UHP is a M+S tire, it is not really designed to be a go in snow tire, even with AWD. I really can get around here in SE PA with AWD and A/S tires. I put Conti Extreme Contacts on my daughter's IS250 AWD last year and they performed well in the little snow that we had last year. Also had them on my 04 S4 and got around well in the snow with them. Bottom line is that the General Exclaim UHP tires are a really good tire for the street if you do not encounter snow or are interested in tracking the car especially if you want to run them when the temps get below 40 degrees. Otherwise look for something different. BTW, I also have a Mountaineer, so the BMW does not need to be driven when it snows.

 

I thought the UHPs were a summer maximum performance tire (ie not "all season" or "M+S")?

 

True, they are an "Ultra High Performance Summer Tire" but actually do well as an A/S tire. But, I live in Texas so either way it isn't really an issue for me.

 

i bought 245/40ZR18 (x2) and 275/35ZR18 (x2) for my Equips. incredible prices.

my friend back in CT had a set of Exclaim UHPs on his E46 M3 and just loved them. they lasted like 10,000 miles in the rear...compared to 4,000 miles on the next set of tires he got by Sumitomo.

 

I'll be interested to see how long these last. I sure as hell hope these last longer than 10,000!! They are rated quite high for tread wear. Much higher than the Bridgestones I just changed out (which I got 22,000 miles out of). Does your friend race? I don't. That might be why he had such low mileage on them?

 

I've had my UHP's for 4k miles now, grip is phenomenal for tires priced at this range. Excellent value in terms of performance. They are made by conti.

 

heheh, i think you don't have to worry. my friend doesn't realize that he just beats his M3. that's pretty much why he could only get 10k miles. i've got about 5k miles on mine and they look like they have the same amount of tread as when i first got them in april.
