Default Kleen Wheels do work!

If you remember from a previous thread, I posted that I was tired of excessive brake dust and I purchased a set of Kleen Wheels dust shields . Put them on last Sunday on both my wife's and daughter's IS250 AWDs. Easy installation . Although you do need to be certain that the shields are completely seated against the rims or the calipers will rub. So far, the front wheels have shown absolutely no brake dust. In fact, they are now cleaner than the rear wheels!

Shields do have vented slots for brake cooling, but I would have to think it would somehow restrict airflow to the brakes. That should not be an issue on the street. They are available for both the 17" and 18" wheels. Only drawback is you no longer see the brake calipers. My wife and daughter don't care. They are elated not to have dirty wheels and caked on brake dust residue

Post some pics if possible of the aftereffect and look of the shield on the vehicle viewing through the wheel.

Be aware that it may make your brakes run hotter and could warp the rotors. I had an old Supra that I used them and it warped the rotors, so I took them off. You also might ask the dealer what he thinks and will it affect warranty. It does restrict the airflow. Did you try the better, low diust pads available from Lexus?

Definitely a lot different looking than what I expected. But as long as your wife and daughter don't care, it's cool.

These AWD 10 spoke wheels were a pain to clean. Waxing them helped, but your remedy may not be a bad idea as long as heating issues within the braking system are not an issue.

not a fan of the look, the function over form does have its advantages.

I agree. The look is not bad especially since they don't get covered in brake dust any more. They actualy don't look bad from a distance. My wife and daughter like the dustless look of the wheels. If they're OK with it, I have no problem. I might have a different opinion if it were MY daily driver.

Doesn't that defeat the point of having rims? You could of just sold the rims for steelies and get similar looking hubcabs

Is this good for the brakes? its not getting much air to flow? I would think this would allow for it to heat up. Its just time to get some aftermarket rims that are easier to clean and dress up the car a little more then the OEM rims do.
