IPOD Interface Installation

I'm getting ready to install my IPOD interface and was wondering if I need to disconnect the battery terminal or can I just remove the fuse for head unit? The instruction says to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery but I don't want to go through the hassle of reprogramming my personal setting. Any suggestions or tips?

lol...i am such a dweeb, I recently installed mine and didn't even read the instructions so all I did was just remove the unit and stuff; just plugged away and I was fine.
