ML: void warrantee?
Guys,
after two years reading about the NAV hack (watch DVD) from CL members, i reluctantly did my 4 weeks ago and loved it. But now my ML DVD player is acting up, it will not eject the disc (many members had this problems even though they did not perform the NAV hack). So my question is, with my little "alteration" to the NAV/ML unit, will the warranty covers my ML replacement? I will set an appointment with my dealership and see how it goes, but i thought i'd see your thoughts first.
Thanks,
KUKI

First of all, that is why you do not do such mods. They sell a PNP kit so theres no modification done, people are just too cheap, not saying you or anyone in particular
. To answer your question, if they see it then its NOT covered at all. So GL.

It depends on what you want it to do. If you want the one that can play DVDs on the ML I think it's around $300. But if you don't care about watching videos you can get the nav only one for $150 IIRC.

I brought it to the dealer a year after I did the Nav hack, and they replaced the DVD/CD player. It seems to be happen with a few '06 models.
Best thing to do: bring it to the dealer, and let them figure it out. They may not even realize that you ever did the Nav hack.
Good luck!
My DVD/CD player was acting up once. It was not ejecting the discs.

HMMMMMMMMMMMM....ARE YOU SERIOUS or just trying to freak me out? i dont think it worth $500.
Anyway, i will bring it in sometimes this week and see what they say.
BTW, how the heck does the warranty works? I mean the dealership perform the service, then they bill the Toyota for reimbursement? If that's the case, then why don't they just honor the warranty if the car is still in the warranty period just becuase it "good customer services". They will get their money eitheir way. The only thing i can think of is that they get to charge the customer more money, where as they have to charge Toyota or any other manufacturer, a lesser amount.
