i am an IS250 owner from the UK and i really want to put quad tips on my IS250. I currently have the OEM tips. I dont want to change the exhaust. I will be purchasing the rear lip that has the space for twin tips on each side.
But I am stuck at the point where I dont know how to convert each single side tip to a twin tip. Can anyone please advise me on this? Do i just get another single tip and have it welded on or is there replacement tips that i can get?
haha easy, go to porsche and buy the quad tips for either the 997 carrera or the 996 turbo, they will fit, u also get two choices of tips.
if those are too expensive (which they are), check out ebay, or go to a exhaust/tuning shop, there are mad companies that off quad tips that will slide on to fit single pipes. Oh and dont forget to take pics
I take it my OEM tips will have to be removed first right? how is the OEM tips connected?
the porsche's tips inlet bit seems to be in the middle, wouldnt that end up shifting the whole tip to much to the edge of the bumper?
Yes if exhaust isnt changed most quad tips would push the tips to the edge of the bumper,
exhaust pipe i beleive is 2.25 - 2.5 inchs so i think it should fit, i test fitted the porsch tips, they fit my inlet, but they didnt the bumper so i didnt get them
BOTH... both tips were wider than the opening in the bumper, and to top it off, they are curved(outlet tip) , the last ones u posted are the ones i tried, that wouldnt fit. i would be surprised if the first ones arnt curved as well.
One member tried the Techart Tips (barrels overlap) on his IS and said it fit, so you can also try and see if u can get ur hands on a set of those. I like that look better anyway than a true quad
BTW do not buy any tips without testing fitting them on first.
That means replacing the whole exhaust. I dont really want to change the exhaust.
ndk83, i've looked at the Techart Tips the inlet bit on those tips seems to be more to the centre of the tip hence it wont shift the entire tip too much to the left. The problem is that i think the OEM tip is already alot to the left and we dont have much space to move to the left. I'm going to try and get some measurements of the Techart Tips and try and see exactly how much it would shift to the edge of the bumper
the back of the original tip looks like this: so i think i know what you mean about the inlet being angled slightly
can anyone please tell me how I can remove my OEM tips? is there a DIY out there? i looked at my OEM tips and cant seem to find any screws or bolts or anything on it.
really? that simple? how does it stay on there then compression i take it? what if i wanted to take it off and then put it back on, wouldnt it go loose?
