I'm looking at getting a 2007 IS350 with the factory navigation. I want to add the ipod integration kit to it. I know with the ML you can hack the system to play DVD's. The one I'm looking at doesn't have ML. Can you still hack the system to play movies off of your ipod? I tried searching the forums and couldn't find any info on this. Thanks for your help.

You will need the Vaistech SLVi module to do that. Also it will not play movies while the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch DVDs in motion with the stock ML or the Vaistech, you will need to do the NAV hack or the NAV/TV Japanese module. Last, all this info can be found in a search.

Why would you not recomend it? I've read on here about tons of people that have done the hack for the ML.
Yes, it an old topic and lots of people have done it. But some of us, albeit a minority, think it’s dangerous. With the possibility of talking your eyes off the road at 70mph to either watch a DVD or manually input a destination may be the cause of a serious accident, not only to you, but to those in the other car who may now lose their lives.
Magellan - I knew as soon as I saw your name on a nav hack post you would be letting us all know the sky is falling if someone hacks their nav. Please. We've heard it enough times. It doesn't have to be in every single thread talking about the nav hack. Besides, you're interfering with natural selection.

haha natural selection!
Anyways, the only concern with the hack is voiding your warranty and cutting into OEM wires. If something were to happen in the future, you dont want to find out that the nav hack was the cause of it.
btw: theres a lot of cars that allow you to change directions and maybe even watch movies on their factory navi screen. I think acura has the capabilities to do so.

Hey, I haven’t posted in a nav hack thread for long time now, but I just couldn’t resist this one. I pictured some guy speeding down a freeway while watching The Fast & the Furious on his nav screen.
