I don't really see how a coupe/convertible will really fit in the IS line-up in the FOURTH year after the current generation IS sedan was introduced.
2009 seem too late for the current geneation & too early for the next generation . . .

If Lexus does make a coupe, I'll bet they wait until the next generation IS to do it.

Agreed. It's too late in the model's run to add it. Not going to happen. Like the others, C&D isn't always accurate.

unless car and driver has confirmation from lexus in the article, it's all speculation. these writers know probably as much as we do, maybe even less.

as such it's unlikely lexus will produce a coupe IS as the current model has reached its 4th year running. it'll have 3-4 years more before the next model will be released and releasing a coupe at this time wouldn't be worth the cost of designing it, engineering it and finding space in a factory to produce the car.

the only possibility is that a new car is released that uses the same architecture as the IS/GS. The IS being a shortened version of the GS underpinnings, a new vehicle known as say, a CS could be released for the sake of having a coupe to compete with the A5's and 3 series coupes. By having a new name you wouldn't have to follow the IS's change in model years

+1 If a coupe ever comes out I think Lexus will have to make serious changes, including taillights, window shapes, maybe even the front end.
