Default Got new wheels, have a unique problem

So I recently got some 20" wheels and finally had them installed yeserday. I then realized that one of the rear wheels appears to stick out a little more than the other one. Upon measurement, one is a 43 offset (what I thought I was getting) and the other is a 38. I bought these wheels used and got an incredible deal on them, so I'm not complaining. Apparently, he had damaged one wheel and ordered a new one. But the shop ordered the wrong offset. On a G coupe, the offset was very conservative so he never noticed. But on the IS, it's a bit more aggressive. That tire is now rubbing a bit when the car is loaded. Plus the car is at stock height, and when I drop it, it will rub a lot more so I need to fix this.

I'm just wondering what my options are.

I like the way the 38 offset side looks much better as it is more aggressive. So I'm thinking about shaving the fender to make it fit and then bringing the other side out to 38 as well. I guess the question is, would it be alright to run a 5mm spacer on just one side? Or should I just have the 38 wheel machined down to a 43.

I'd rather not go through the hassle of ordering a new wheel if I can avoid it. Then I'd be stuck with an extra wheel that I have no room for.

You're driving a Lexus. Not a POS hyundai. I would get wheels that match. Looks better and it's safer.

Hells no! Get the right wheel and wait it out. Its going to be really hard to sell something like this later on, unless you dont plan on telling people. which is wrong. So call the shop and deal with this ASAP

I would just put a 5mm spacer on. That will cost less then $10. 5mm is like this wide | | it wont make you car unsafe!

Get a better fitting wheel... No need to roll your fenders.

It's not an expensive wheel, a 20" Donz Columbo. It's not even the expense of buying a new wheel. I just really do not have the room to store another wheel. I live in a loft and my storage space is already full. So I would have absolutely no place to put it.

For me, it's easy to have someone just machine down the wheel that is 38 offset to a 43. If it's safe to do. Then get a pair of 5 mm spacers to bring both wheels out to 38 again. That's my original plan, then people started saying to just run a 5mm spacer on one side. I'm leaning against that only because it would look funny if someone looked closely and noticed it.

It's barely noticable and until I measured the wheels, I wasn't positive. I used to have a Nissan Maxima and on that car, one wheel did stick out more than the other due to the beam axle in the rear. That's why at first I thought nothing of it.

Get the right wheel that fits properly. Then sell the other one to someone who has a G. Simple solution.

i wouldn't machine it. although it's a quick fix it's still not perfect. plus machining down a rim COULD lower its integrity plus when you sell the rim, what're you going to say? "oh they're 38 offsets machined to match 43 offsets!"

you can easily buy another wheel and ebay off the old one
