Default Error message if no TPMS

I am purchasing some snow tires and wondered what the message screen displays if I don't have TPMS's installed on the tires. I understand that it says something like "Check tire pressure" but can I still scroll through the screen to see the outside temp, fuel economy, etc?

Thanks

go ahead and select the 2nd wheel option for tpms, drive for like 40 miles or so and the light will come on. You can see for yourself first hand.
the display message is a red triangle and check system msg. I believe..

Default Tpms

If I get the error message, will it go away when I switch back to the MAIN tire setting and it picks up my summer tire TPMS??

Yes, you can scroll through the display to view outside temp, fuel economy, etc., but about 10 seconds after you push the display button it will revert back to the warning message.

when I install the summers again and switch to the MAIN set of sensors, will the light go away for good or does it need to be reset by the dealer?

i just got my tpms programmed at the dealer. It just shows Check System! on the on the screen with the red ! in the corner. Yeah you can scroll thru the menus but as it's been said it goes back to "check system" in like 5secs.

ya the light will go away as soon as you set it back to ur original set of tires, but only when they are mounted on the car. Or main set of wheels are near your car when you start. example in the garage. but will pop up again after you drive for a while. if ur using your 2nd set.
no reset is needed, unless you are getting a 2nd set of tpms then they need to be programmed by the dealer, toyota can do it also, plus it will save you a couple of bucks.

do it right the first time around, i just picked up another set of tpms from ebay 115 shipped dealer programed 80bucks, thats because its a friend of a friend, otherwise 100-160 is the going rate.

I hate that red exclamation mark of doom
overrides everything on the display.

I suppose it conveys urgency, but dangit it gets annoying
like that seat belt alarm (which I leave anyway because that's something I don't want to mess around with)

Doesn't it say check system on the unprogrammed slot but low tire on the programmed slot?

i don't think so... if it doesn't read any sensors then it says check system, if the tires are low but the sensors are in i believe you get low tire warning. i've had both signals... right now if have the check system one.
