By law, there must be an amber side maker, it doesn't have to be in the headlight.

You won't see any "accurate pics" of an 2009 IS because the design is still being finalized.

That's definitely not a 2009 IS, I don't expect too many changes either.

They didn't really change the 1st gen IS300 during it's full life did they (5 year production run I think)? I am thinking they will do the same with the current gen IS250/350.... Meaning we won't see anything new until the 3rd gen (~2011 model)

Small things like moldings, tail light finishes, head light finishes, wheel designs & finishes... special versions and special interiors...

Stay tuned for the 2009 my friend....

Looking forward to it... I can tell you I am still a little pissed at the "coin holder" addition of the 2008 model

Don't forget I got the nice Liquid Graphite wheel finish and the updated front seat backs, for the useless rear leg room...

You are correct, all body panels remained the same for the 2001-2005 1gen production. The only real exterior changes were the smoked tails and headlights along with a small reflector housing change in the 2002 wich removed that lovely blusih HID hue (bulbs remained 4300k throughout gen 1 production). The L-Tuned package was also later offered and some changes were made in the exterior colors offered (Solar Yellow Dropped after 2002). Interiors also changed with the addition of curtain airbags for 2002 and tube stitching in the seats (with full leather option). The front doors also welcomed a metal speaker grill in 2002 which looked very nice IMO. The grill eblem changed also after 2001 to a more medallion type. I bet the 2gen will take this route as well.

and its idle would be lumpier than home-made mashed potatoes. /OT

lexus is relatively more conservative with its design; the 2009 model year won't hold much surprise.
