Default missing oil (filter access) cover. what to do...

about 2.5months i took my car in for its 5k oil change. everythin went fine, got a loaner car for the few hours and they told me everything was great and sent me on my way.

so today june 22nd i was at a car meet and some guys wanted to see what my engined looked like and i told them it was all crazy looking like the predator. it so happen that one of the kids that were there just started to work at a lexus dealership and told me that my oil cover on the bottom was missing. its apparently the one on the bottom tahts attached to the plastic and is held in by a few screws. i didnt even know that was a piece when i looked over the car.

when i do call tomm do you think the dealership will charge me for this piece or what? i dont see how it would be my fault for a panel that takes 3 screws to go missing...

fluxx tell them exactly that. it is the oil filter cover is what it is. you wouldnt remove it unless you are getting an oil filter change. that is your defense.

Exclamation

Bring it back to dealership and tell them that the oil filter access panel either fell off or was never put back on after your last oil change service...

It will be covered under warranty... If the Service writer gives you a hard time, just ask to speak to the Service Director..

Good Luck

Talking Part # anyone??

Thread SEARCH initiates a 9 year anniversary thread revival!!

Changed my oil and filter...discovered my filter access panel is missing. Does anyone have the part # for the access panel? I realize the panel is not really important...I'd just like to replace it anyway.

Thanks!
