Going Surfing, How to lock keyless module in car?
I have a surf rack I will be mounting on my 2008 IS250. With my other car I can just put my ignition key in my wetsuit's key holder and keep the rest of the keys in the glove box and lock my car up.
Now for the lexus, I can remove the key from the keyless entry fob and store that in my wetsuit for manual access to my car, but how I am going to lock the doors to my car and hide the keyless fob somewhere in the car where it wont sense it?
thanks

I'm not saying to try this but I wonder if those magnetic bags would work, they give them to you when you buy those sunpasses or toll booth transponders to keep them from going off when you dont' want them to, they also obviously wouldn't hurt the batteries otherwise they wouldnt give them out.

Hit the valet button in the glove box and store the key fob in the trunk, that way it will only be accesible with the key. Only drawback is the doors won't lock, so I make sure to keep anything valuable in the trunk while I'm in the water.

The keyless entry is so easy to use I actually left it in my pockets twice and washed it in the washing machine.
I took it apart to dry it, and what happen is that the computer board inside, is topped by a rubber wrapping thats right in between the computer board and the buttons, while resting inside a "dish" or sorts thats a bit below the side crack so the water goes into the rubber as well...
Well the twice I washed it, and took it apart, the computer chips inside were all 100% dry

The RFID chip within the key is very strong and unless you encase it in 1/2 of lead you may have a hard time keeping it from communicating with the vehicle.
For the thread starters situation, I would remove the battery and place the key assembly inside the tool kit within the trunk. The trunk access button in the glove box can then be "locked out" and the glove box can be locked. So then you would need to do the reverse when you arrive to the vehicle.
Pop the cover of the driver's handle and use the key to access the vehicle. Open the glove box, enable the trunk open on, access the trunk, reinstall/reassemble the key and start the vehicle.
Simply throwing the key in the trunk will make the smart access system to see the key is in the trunk and reopen it.
