#1 How do you remove the rear bumper reflectors? The ones right above the exhaust. Do they snap in/out or bolted?
#2 I just filled up to ol' Lex (btw $60 ouch) and was reading the new label on the pumps. It stated that the ethanol-blended precent was a mix with 15%. When did this change from 10%? And how does this change the combustion process and still maintain 93 octane? Wouldn't this fuel be more stable? Could I run mid-grade with such a blend?
These are my two question that turned into 5. Please point me in the right direction.
Ethanol corrodes iron parts slightly. I wish they did not even add this to fuel, but it is a cost and environmental issue. As for the bumper reflectrs, removing the rear bumper skin is not too labot intensive. When it comes time fo rme to have mine repainted, I am going to remove those reflectors and bondo the holes.
For the bumper reflectors - I going to have them painted with my chrome grill trim ring next week. I'm color matching. GFM....
As for the Ethanol increase - From what I've read oil companies started adding ethanol to fuel when they removed leaded gas from the market. The fuel lost some of its stabaillty and ethanol was the cure. But does the higher % mean more stable? I've also read that they increase the % when the oil companies dilute the fuel with water. Does the higher% mean I'm getting screwed, more so than I thought?
I havent seen any changes at the pumps here with the exception of the price increase. I will have to look next time. all the pumps are 10% in IL that I am aware of.
I just got the overlay myself. havent installed but it looks better. i would rather fill them in but i dont want to waste the $$$ as good as it would look

Lead was removed from gasoline (in the US anyway) decades ago at this point.... what ethanol IS commonly replacing these days is MTBE, which was found to pollute ground water...and MTBE is what commonly replaced lead in gasoline back in the 70s.
