Default Console burn

Hi guys,

I've been lurking for awhile, learning a lot about my IS350. Thanks for all the info!

I just had the strangest thing happen. I got in my car and everything was fine. I drove for less than 10 minutes and when I got home I saw what looked like a burn on the metallic-finish console near the cup holder.

It felt very hot and all I can think of is my bracelet was resting on there for the few minutes. The area is discolored and bumpy.

Anyone ever see anything like this? I'm so upset the interior is (was) so perfect right now, I've had the car 10 days.

Thanks,
Lisa

Ooh...that's weird? No right arm jewelry for me this summer. Bummer that your interior was slightly ruined already.

Now I really don't think it was my bracelet. I tested it out and it wouldn't have been a comfortable way to rest my arm. I may have been holding my cell phone there, although there is no damage to my phone.

Any idea how much to replace this piece?

I would honestly now purchase the Carbon Fiber kit. You can get them on Ebay cheap and it will look like the IS-F interior. The plastic in the 2gen is easy to melt.

Were you charging or talking on the phone? If you were doing either the battery can get hot enough to melt that.

What Brian is talking about is really easy to put on. As long as you have a steady hand and a good eye!

Hope you figure something out.

wow that is just crazy! Seems like some sort of chemical that ate away at the plastic..

Really doesn't seem like a cell phone battery charging would get that hot imho.. well without you noticing it?

just like the other guys said get the carbon fiber kit!

No. I'm pretty sure I was just resting the rubber backing of the phone against it. It was not charging or be used in anyway. I actually hadn't used the phone at all yet so it was cold.

I think it's rubber, it's a Voyager, anyone know?

I agree with the CF kit. That probably could have happen if it was rubbing all day like that. I dont think you were driving all day though. There is not much else you can do Lisa sorry!

May be some members can point you to a good shop to install the CF-kit
