Default Buying a Spoiler on Ebay

Hey guys,

Was thinking about buying a spoiler on ebay... found a link with a pretty decent deal (I think?). Just a question for those who have bought one on EBay...

How was the color match on the paint, and also this particular auction I'm looking at says installation is done with 3M tape only... Has anyone had any problems with just the tape installation?

Here's a link to the auction... there's 50 available. Whatcha guys think?

I have done this on another make car and never had any fitment issues or QC problems. I had ones that had the tape and ones that required the bolts. You will be just fine with the 3m tape. Just make sure you do a good job on the install and follow the instructions on the prep.

There is an identical thread that was started a few days back...search that and im sure there will be more info.

Good luck!

I was thinking of doing the same thing too but still contemplating whether to do the drilling or the taping. I want it to stick for couple years, just don't like the idea of drilling. Does anyone know how long will the 3M tape last?

BTW, here's a thread about this

I too have done aftermarket spoilers with the 3M Tape application. Much cheaper alternative than OEM or a dealer applied/outsourced spolier. IMO go for it!!

you can cut the bolts off the spoiler if you dont feel comfortabe putting holes in your car. The tape will last for a long time. Worst I have seen, not just with spoilers, is the corner tends to want to come up. This can be fixed with new tape or by using a spoiler that has the bolts.

I got to see the NEW spoiler for the TSX (new model) It is held on by 2 very cheap plastic clips and a very thin 3m tape...

It's a great price, and it seems like they make a lot of products for a lot of cars. Go for it.

Do it, I just bought it from that same vendo/seller about a month ago and it is good quality fitment and finish. that you cant tell it is not from Lexus. It is made or sold by an established company in Texas which you can tell when you get the package. I have gone through automatic car washes and it still looks perfect. You cant beat $119 shipped compared to $200+ elsewhere.

I assumed that you just use the supplied tape? I just bought one but does it come with drill option if I wanted to drill or this was design for taping only?

i bought one from ebay too. but i had issues with one of the sides lifting seems to be a common problem. even if you have to drill. I think its a problem with the design of the spoiler.

i removed mine because i was scared it would fly off.

use guide lines to make sure you can center the spoiler. I used painters tape as guidelines. also be sure that the corners get enough contact with the trunk. just my .02

need to make a pit stop by the auto part store to get some more tape. let us know how the install goes.
