Default which spoiler should i buy

Hey guys,

http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2006/1865.html

this spoiler needs to be installed with screws

but i've seen spoilers on ebay which only need 3M double sided tape?

how strong are they? any stories of them falling off?

is getting it screwed in much better or does the 3M spoilers off ebay do the job?

i would be getting it unpainted from ebay and i'd get someone to paint it for me here.

any thoughts?

thanks!

If you plan on keeping the spoiler forever than I would go with screws. It will give you peace of mind knowing that thing is never going to come off. 3M is ridiculously strong but, I've heard from people on the forum that the spoiler may lift a bit after a while. I've never heard of it actually completely coming off the car though.

If I remember correct, the screws on the OEM Spoilers can be removed if you want to install using 3M tape only. 3M tape is pretty strong and should last pretty long.

Car manufacturers use them on moldings, window trims, etc.

I installed my spoiler with just the 3M Tape, apply some extra underneath and you'll be good to go. If you're really worried about how it will stick, use some 3M adhesive promoter with the tape. It won't move. I didn't use the 3M adhesive promoter and its holding up fine to car washes, rain, dirt, etc. Just cut off the bolts and use 3M tape

Dremeled the screws out and applied extra tape. Spoiler is still on after 3 years with no signs of moving.

I ordered the one from Sewells with the screws. I installed it myself with the template included. It was a little scary drilling holes in the trunk myself but overall it was pretty easy.

I purposely looked for a spoiler on bay that did NOT require drilling since i didn't want to drill any holes and the install on a spoiler using the 3M tape is sooo much easier !!

You gotta be careful with the 3M tape though cause once it's on ..... it's going to be a b**tch to remove and redo !! Good luck

if you apply enough pressure and enough tape, that thing is never coming off. Even if i wanted to remove my WALD lip, I doubt i would be able to

just install the screw so you won't have to worry about it. Also, to answer your question I still believe the factory one looks the best.

OP where do you live? Some of these people who just use tape are lucky enough to live in California where there isn't much rain or a real winter.

There's a spoiler i've seen on a dark gray IS with quads on here, it covers the top portion of the trunk and it flares out on top. It looks so bad-***.
