Sorry about your car. I can relate. Many years ago I was driving at night, and came around a blind corner on a very narrow 2 lane road at the posted speed limit of 55. There in the middle of my lane was a fill grown buck deer. I hit him sooo hard that his horns nearly pierced my hood!!! The car was a mess, and was in the body shop for 2 months!

at least it was better than this: durango versus deer

i "gently" bumped into a duck going around 15 mph. bounced off my wife's tsx right bumper. feathers flew. couldn't find the duck. later saw them fly overhead while looking for it. guess he was ok. no blood smears on the bumpber, just a messy patch of dirt water.

Sorry to hear what happened to the car. unfortunately, there isn't much we can do about sudden animal appearing at night times.

Hope you get your car back quickly and professionally!

It helps to crank up your speakers with your windows wide open. The noise may actually scare animals away as you approach

ah okay finally got some pictures, here they are

unfortunately no hair/fur to show the insurance company, i hope they dont make me bring them my poor furry friend

Based on the mathematical equation of retard theory lol....55 mph divided by 2 is what you should be driving on a dark road with turns and you cannot see.
Regardless of EBD, ABS, etc....if you were driving at 25 mph you could have stopped in 1/2 the time. THANK YOU. im a genius lmao.
nah, the speed limit was 55 and if i was doing 55/2 = 27.5 mph, i would have been run kindly off the road into a telephone pole. Im quite accustomed to driving these areas and have dodged my fair share of deer, squirrels, possums, and other furry critters, either by slamming on my brakes and stopping in time, or getting around them (the bad way to do it, your not supposed to turn the wheels apparently as that is what will make you spin out and hit oncoming traffic). In this instance there were cars behind me, cars in front of me, and cars in the oncoming lane = nowhere to safely go.. and not to mention i hit the raccoon before i even had time to process what had happened... i saw its poor little stripes and paws with not enough time to even get my foot onto the brake, not to mention go from 50 down to 0. You can blame me and say i should drive 27.5 mph, but i don't think many people would agree, especially the people who are used to living in areas with animals in the roads.

as for everyone else who wished me good luck i appreciate it, hopefully my comprehensive insurance will take care of me, my sister with a similar plan hit a deer and got her front end replaced, although she had a grille full of deer hair to prove it to the insurance company, i on the other hand just have a fkd up front end... i wish my raccoon got stuck in my engine bay like someone posted before^^, that way i'd know he wasnt dead and i could prove it =p

As for updates, i'm sending the car to the shop of my choice, and the total price for new bumper, lip, and foglight housing/assembly, and labor came to a little under 1,400, insurance is taking on 900. I guess i'm pretty satisfied, but i would have just rather not have hit it and still have that 500$
