Not in my experience. I find that it saves gas.

I have found it saves gas as well and typically use this feature on long haul trips. It is the constant fuel rate of delivery that saves fuel rather than some ECM trick. I rarely use this feature in the Chicagoland due to traffic.

The opposite is true. It is the best way to maintain a good mpg and save gas.

If you are traveling on a highway that has many inclines and the trans is constantly downshifting you can get better mileage without the cruise. 90% of the time using cruise will yield better mileage.

That is my experience in the past. If your driving mainly flat areas it will save you gas.

like KOZ said .....it depends on the road......our car likes to downshift and accel it self going up hill....causing the mpg to go down......but on flat roads its using the cruise is better....

also the speed at which u cruise at makes a slight difference.....

another thing.....don't use the cruise control switch to accelerate, that will waste alot of gas, feather the gas pedal to accelarate to he speed you want and then set it. Just my 2 cents.

If you gaining speed going downhill (using cruise) the trans will downshift to shed some speed.

To obtain maximum fuel economy you would not want want to use cruise control for the reasons listed above... but as stated above for about 99% of drivers cruise control is the most efficient way of driving on the freeway.

(not sure the point of me posting this since it has already been said above)
