Default 20k Service

my 20k service is coming up....yeah yeah I know I don't really drive my car, 20k for 06 is pretty low...but I am just wondering what you guys did for it. Did you take it to the dealer or have an independent shop do the maintanence for you? it seems to me it's just a bunch of inspections and an oil change. and the dealer is quoting $168?!? is it worth it? and will it void the warranty?

HAH you think YOU have low mileage?

My 07 bought new at the end of March 2007 has 5,090 miles on it as of this day

'94 LS 400 bought new August 1994 has 120,000

2007 Audi Q7 is my daily beater and it has 30k =/

Basically, it is an oil change and tire rotation. I would avoid the dealer. You can do a full synthetic Mobil 1 oil change yourself for about $40 including the filter. You can do your own visual inspection.

i'm only going to them cuz they offer free tires for life, but i think imma quit after my first free set...by the time i get my tires..it'll be even and i won't be making out on top.

Maybe you should cash out your pro-rated Tires For Life deal so you can save money in the long run. My dealer tried to get me to do this program and after 5 minutes of doing the math, I said forget it. Once you are committed to obtaining all service at the dealer, it costs the customer a ton in the long-run. You should go to Discount Tire. There are many threads concerning the Tires For Life program and many have cashed it out on a pro-rated amount.

Some Lexus dealerships (mine for instance) don't even have all the stuff necessary for tire service on-site (such as doing alignments). They have to send your car out to another place. I have always had faith in using a reputable independent tire place verses going through the dealership for tires (saves a lot of money and headaches).

Wow Erin, a dealer that outsources tire applications (LOL). What dealer in Bakersfield did you buy from?

Motor City - Bakersfield. I really haven't had my car serviced that much being only @ 2.5K miles, but thus far, I haven't been too happy with them. I went in there for my 1k service, and they drilled on my front license plate (when I asked them not to...yay for bumper plugs) and ruined the finish on my front passenger seat.

My dealer did the same to my passenger seat with a nice scrape and also gouged the back of my driver seat when they had my car for a week for 4 TSIB's. No one has ever sat in my backseat and the seat was incidently removed for the TSIB on the driver seat squeak. Oh well, I guess we can't have anything nice in this world (LOL).

P.S. When I bought my car, the teenage porter came out with a power screw driver and my plates. I said, you best put that front plate in the trunck. The other sales guys were like, you need it on. I said I need it in the trunck (LOL).

Seriously, it looked like someone rubbed Ajax on my front seat. When I noticed this when I got my car back, I stormed back into the dealership and told the receptionist in a very loud tone (so the other people in the waiting area could hear) that I want to talk to the service manager because my seat was ruin during service!!!

They took my car back and applied some re-finish protectant stuff on it, which made my seat look like new again for a few days...then the damaged places reappeared. After that, I said ***** it! Since then my seat looks somewhat better from the OEM cleaner and conditioner, but if you look really hard...you can see where it was damaged.
