Default dealership experience

i have a 2008 IS250 with 2900 miles, and took it in to get new rims and tires. i picked the car up and noticed there is some noise coming out of the center speaker in the middle of the top of the dash. like a crackling noise. then i found out nothing on the navigation was making any sound! the dealer told me to bring it in first thing in the morning. i wonder what thye could have done to mess up the navigation by replacing the tires and rims??

There is a need for the "Noise Kit" which adds some felt like material to the plastic clips. Incidently there is a clip right behind the center speak grill. I had the same noise and it is now fixed. Yes, it is disheartening to hear this crack and pop. Especially when it is cold out. If you have ML and feel the speaker is damaged, the techs may have blasted the radio and caused harm. In any event, I would have them fix either issue under warrenty and you will be fine.

Hey Brian231,

I tried that myself and it didnt work. I let the grill off and it was still rattling. If there is weight pushed on it it goes away. I am gonna try the sound deadening material and see if it quiets it.

sounds like your tech just did a bad install, slee. at first, i got the same tsib done and the rattle came back. after looking at the dash, i noticed the same thing, if i apply pressure the rattle goes away.

i took it back and requested a good friend to do the work this time (felt bad cuz hes getting paid his warranty rate). after he was finished the dash looked almost a quarter inch lower than it was with the first fix, and when i press on it the dash no longer squeezes down, it stays put.

as for the op, like others have said, just take it to your dealership and get the tsib done to your vehicle. its a well-known issue hence the warranty on it, so i wouldnt necessarily point fingers at the dealership

I have heard of some dealers using a rubber tube to apply pressure on the dash between the window and reduce this rattle.

I would take it back but they refused to work on it anymore. Talked to lexus CS rep and never returned my calls. They called it a PAS performs as specified.
