I think I am an expert by now. I did some research a few weeks ago and took me a few hours to understand between few standards of garage door lifters and remote controls use in states.

Some tips before you start:
1. Make sure your existing garage remote is 390 MHz.. or buy a convertor from Home Depot ($40 or so).
2. Go to HomeLink website and get some general ideas about resetting and learnning.

OK, my wife is going to kill me... I changed the battery and then reset the opener. I could then program my Acura homelink right away. However, neither Infiniti, no Lexus homelink worked. I tried everything - parked car at differnt places, hold remote at different distances from mirrow, nothing worked. It seems that the first step is completed successfully. The 2d step has failed however: I press the learn button, then after I press homelink button for the first time the light on the opener changes from slow flashing to solid (good), when however I press it 2d time it start flash rapidly indicating error... Now, we only have one external remote...

Joseph, since I can program my acura homelink with no problem I believe that my garage remote is good... I reset my opener 2 times and reset homelink at infiniti and lexus many times...

passnu2, I PM you. Thanks again.

I fixed the problem that was my "non-genie" brand remote. I have small key-chain type remote that worked fine to open garage door and to program my acura homelink. But it failed for newer lexus and infiniti. Since I needed 2d remote, I went this morning to the store and got large genie brand remote (thanks god they did not have "non-genie" brand remotes similar to the one I had). Anyway, I decided to give it a try with this remote and it worked right away! Anither lesson: Genie garage opener needs genie remote to program, at least, some cars....

I understand you're having trouble programming your Genie Screw Drive garage door opener with your Homelink system. Programming garage door openers can be a bit tricky, especially with rolling code technology. Let's try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Here are some steps you can follow:
  1. Clear Existing Codes: Before starting the programming process, it's essential to clear any existing codes on your garage door opener. Follow your Genie Screw Drive opener's manual for specific instructions on how to clear the memory.
  2. Homelink Initialization: Ensure that your Homelink system is initialized correctly in your vehicle. This often involves pressing and holding the Homelink button(s) until the indicator light(s) change behavior.
  3. Programming Mode: Put your Genie Screw Drive opener into programming mode by pressing the "Learn" or "Program" button on the opener itself. The light on the opener should start blinking slowly, indicating it's ready to receive a new code.
  4. Homelink Programming: Follow these steps for Homelink programming:
    • Press and hold the desired Homelink button (is-f) in your vehicle.
    • While holding the button, point it toward your garage door opener and press the opener's remote button (the one you want to program) within a few seconds of holding the Homelink button.
    • The light on your garage door opener should change behavior, as you described. Rapid blinking might indicate that the programming attempt was unsuccessful.
  5. Test: After completing the programming steps, test the Homelink button to see if it operates the garage door opener.
  6. Repeat If Necessary: If the programming doesn't work initially, don't be discouraged. You might need to repeat the process a few times to ensure the codes are synchronized correctly.
  7. Contact Genie Support: If you've tried multiple times and still can't get it to work, consider reaching out to Genie customer support. They can provide more specific guidance for your model of garage door opener.
Remember that Genie Screw Drive openers, like many other garage door openers with rolling code technology, may require precise timing during the programming process. It's essential to follow the instructions in both your garage door opener manual and your vehicle's Homelink manual carefully.

I hope these steps help you successfully program your Homelink with your Genie Screw Drive garage door opener.
