Non-Nav to Nav Conversion (merged threads)
Well I am not sure abt the 2IS but I just did a conversion from Non Nav 06' ES330 to OEM Nav.
How Hard is it to do it :
It took me a couple of days to analyze all the schema diagrams which I downloaded off the Lexus TIS section.
Probably half a day to dis-assemble all the required sections, new installation and assembly of all parts
What are the parts involved
1. Voice Guided Amp
2. Navigation Unit
3. Wiring Harness
4. A few wire Tappers
I purchased the above from a reputable Nav seller (EGUSMAN) I can provide his contact if any of you guys would require. He is very knowledgeable in this area and very helpful as well. I got the whole system under $1500.

The last time I talked to him, he mentioned that he just sold a the New Gen GS Nav system on ebay for $3K with the same setup for a guy who wanted to to retro his non-nav.
You probably want to talk to him for more info in 2IS. PM me for more details..

I just took delivery of a new IS350 (will post another new thread for that
) w/o nav and I'm loving it! Unfortunately, due to financial constraints I opted not to have the oem nav installed. In the future I would like to add the OEM nav to my car, is this possible? Or is the wiring so different that it would be impossible?

welcome and cograds! there is another member on here that has done the conversion and is on the last stages. i think the post also shows the step by step process. i think it also mentioned a cost of about 3500$....good luck!
Note that for about $250 you can get an aftermarket nav that does most of what the factory system does (no backup camera or BT) and for about $350-400 you can get one that does MORE than the factory system does (still no backup camera, but it'll do realtime traffic in addition to doing bluetooth, it'll play mp3s, audiobooks, and more...and be a lot cheaper to update the maps on).
Only downside to it being it'd sit ON the dash instead of IN the dash. Still, several grand cheaper for better functionality compared to adding the OEM unit.

I actually have a TomTom One XL and it works great for me.
The reason I'm interested in the OEM nav is because it's flush and looks darn good. My last car was a 1 yr lease of the Infiniti FX35 which had a LCD screen for all purposes. So I've been a bit spoiled by that lol.

Yeah, if it's worth the $3500 or so to you for the looks it's certainly doable... IIRC the guy who posted directions said it took him about 20 hours, and if you're comfortable with wiring and taking your dash and such apart it didn't look that difficult... note you might run into warranty issues with such a swap if any of the involved systems fail.
Does that include swapping the CD changer to a DVD changer for the ML folks? Because if so that'd make it cheaper than buying it from the factory, which is the opposite of what I'd heard.
I'm having two problems with the retrofit so I don't recommend it highly, but plan to deal with some functional problems. I hope egusaman can figure out my problems.
I already -have- ML quality, I just don't have the DVD changer. Despite their listing of the feature for a couple years ML without Nav doesn't give you the DVD changer, an issue I've already addressed with Lexus. Adding it would give me DVD-A playback too. I'm actually vaguely curious if it's possible to swap just the changer into a ML-without-Nav system and gain DVD-A playback or if you need the rest of the Nav stuff to get it... eh, at $750 I dunno that I'd be willing to experiment, but I do wonder if it'd work...
