Wow just came up with this issue. I've never used the valet button before, but somehow it was pressed?

The trunk opened for me yesterday but today it didn't, was a bit bummed that my car has reached an age where small things will start to go wrong until I found this thread!

I have to wonder whether my glove box button just pops out on its own (into valet locked position) every so often. I'm the only one who drives my car, I never intentionally use the valet lockout feature, yet there have been a few times when I've found it locked and had to press the button to restore operation.

I looked at a 2010 IS that had this issue. I fiddled with the valet button and it was still inop from the remote and dash buttons. I'm guessing that the previous owner disconnected it somehow. If the car becomes mine, I'll look into it further.

Default Thank you ...

I should've come here first. I was frustrated after taking the switch panel out, spraying electrical contact cleaner wherever possible and it still not working ... feel pretty stupid now

Thanks everyone!

After getting the vehicle, I found out that the button in the glove box was in the disabled position. Now the trunk release switches all work.

Add me to the list of dummies! I just bought an ISF and was feeling like my car was a jalopy after the trunk failed me last night on my grocery run. Didn't even know this button existed and it fixed my problems! Thanks everyone!

Does anyone read the manuals that come with the car?

Have you tried holding the trunk button that is inside the car for more than two seconds?

Just pressing the button once won't open the trunk, you have to press and hold the button in for about 2-4 seconds
