where is it? is it only on the driver's side above the window's controls?

are you talking about the one that hear when someone calls you?? If thats the one then its the tweeter on the driver side.

i always thought it'd be both sides (passenger and driver).

No--definitely not the passenger. I don't think the nav instructions come thru the passenger side either.
