I finally got the rolling codes to work on the IS.
Pressed learn button
go inside car and press the homelink button once and let go,
press it again and let go, press it again and let go.
worked, the garage closed and the light on the garage door blinked.
This thread should be added to the Faqs

^^ might of had the code stored from last time because that cant work there needs to be a code from the remote if u press the two outer button for like 20 sec i think it will erase any codes in the buttons.

Can anyone explain how to program the homelink system? I live in an apt where it uses a remote to open the main door, it opens by rolling to the side. Is it called rolling door type or just the normal garage door?
I tried the normal garage door for many times, but nothing. Dunno whether I did it right. Also if it really is the rolling door type, how can I find the whatever code?

Most HOA don't want or allow this. They'd rather sell you a remote they can track for $35. At least mine in CA would not do this. My new community has a smart chip for gate access. No codes no buttons.
Joe is dead right about clearing the old codes. I tried and tried with a Genie in my rental and it would not work until I cleared the entire Homelink, programmed with the remote, then hit the learn button and voila!

My parents have a rolling code and and I almost threw a fit not getting it to work. I did this on my GS and helped a friend do it at his new place in his IS. The key is to 1st follow the instructions on programming the with the remote control, THEN going following the instructions on the "Rolling Code" section. Don't proceed directly to the "Rolling Code" section in the manual.
Program with Remote:
1) Point the remote control for the
device 1 to 3 in. (25 to 75 mm)
from the HomeLink control buttons.
2) Press and hold down one of the
buttons on the HomeLink and
the button on the transmitter.
When the indicator light on the
HomeLink changes from a slow
to a rapid flash after 20 seconds,
you can release both buttons.
3) Test the operation of the
HomeLink by pressing the newly
programmed button.
3-b) If programming a garage door
opener, check to see if the garage
door opens and closes. If the
garage door does not operate, see
if your garage transmitter is of the
Rolling Code type. Press and hold
the programmed HomeLink button.
The garage door has the rolling
code feature if the indicator
light (on the HomeLink) flashes
rapidly for 2 seconds and then
remains lit.
Program Rolling Code (After performing above instructions!!!) VERY important!
1) Locate the training button on the ceiling mounted garage door
opener motor. The exact location and color of the button may
vary by brand of garage door opener
2) Press the training button.
3) Press and release the vehicle’s programmed HomeLink button
twice. The garage door may open.
If the garage door opens, the programming process is complete. If the
door does not open, press and release the button a third time. This third
press and release will complete the programming process by opening
the garage door. (I had to press 4 times)
The ceiling mounted garage door opener motor should now recognize
the HomeLink transceiver and operate the garage door.
Hope this helps!
