Default Clunking noise ????

Anyone experienced this? I heard some clunking noise in the rear wheel (near the exhaust) when I closed the door just now. I took a peek into the rear wheel and it looks like something (exhaust pipe?) is missing to the muffler?

Called the dealer, will send it in Monday.....

Just wondering anyone experienced this before????

Will try to take some pics later and post it up......

Thanks guys!

Hmm I have a similar sound but mine usually happens just as I start out driving and I break for the first time. It usually goes away after the first break though.

Never had that. But the noise you hear when braking for the first time is the brake pad shifting.

Let me clearify this.....

The source of the clunking noise is from the muffler.....cos when I close the door, I hear the noise.......

and looks like a portion of the exhaust pipe is missing.....

maybe you hit some road debris and the 'piece of exhaust pipe missing' is just missing the shielding around the exhaust pipe...

If you were missing actual pipe, you would know (the LOUD EXHAUST would be evidence enough). So you don't have misisng pipe

This doesn't rule out the fact that you might have missing or displaced exhaust shielding. If you nailed something on the road, it's possible that it bent some shielding into a position that is causing the noise.

If you are a DIY kinda guy, I would reccommend jacking up your car and looking closely at the undercarriage of your car. If not, take it somewhere, and let them know where the noise is coming from. it won't be a 'warranty' item, so expect to pay $.

update: the noise went away when the car is cooled down (it was pouring last nite and I parked outside)

so that might be some kind of metal expension that makes the noise when the car's warmed up ?

Dude i hear the same thing. My house is on a tilited road. So when i come home from work at 5 an i park and on a tilt and as soon as i get out i hear a slight clunk and then when i close the door its more pronounce.

I tried duplicating the noise but for some reason it doesnt work. I opneded the door ans stood on the door sill and tried bouncing the car to see if i hear anything, but nothing.

The went back to the trunk and i put my weight on the trunk to make it bounce, but still nothing.

I really dont know where it might be coming from but some where in the rear. At first when i noticed the noise i thought it was the exhaust being loose or something. I have no clue
