Default Inside Trunk Release Button

Hello everyone,

It has been a while since i've posted, but I ran into an issue yesterday. I went to the grocery store and as I was unloading I noticed one of the bags got caught on the trunk release button (located inside the trunk). Now my trunk will not close and I'm not sure what to do

Thoughts/suggestions?

If it's still under warranty, might as well go to the dealership to fix it...

I believe it has something to do with that button because the grocery bag was caught on the handle. I tried to play around with it and push it back into place but I don't want to screw anything up. I'm not sure if it needs to be pulled all the way out and then it slides back in???? I'm totally clueless right now (as you can probably tell....LOL).

Mine handle has a little play in it..

I would pull on it and see if it resets back into place...

Also, try and hit the Trunk release button on the dash, maybe that will help in resetting it too..

Go outside, pull on the handle a good yank and let go, not super hard but a firm tug. Not like a plastic bag is gonna seriously damage it, your just being overly paranoid. OR press the trunk release button on the dash. OR try the metal key in the slot.

*disclaimer: maybe *

I took my car in today to get the recalls fixed and they are going to fix the trunk release (thank goodness!! ) I tried to fix it myself and I ended up making it worse I pulled the entire leaver off......

I'm driving an ES right now while my car is getting fix...they are nice, but I miss my IS. Thanks for the advice everyone!!!

Looks like when the bag got snagged it did more damage than we thought...

You never told us what was in the bag..

LOL......EXACTLY If so, I don't know if I would have made it....I would have had to kick out a tail light. Thats scary when you think about it...hopefully, they have tested it. I hope no one is ever in that situation.
