So it does not work when the car really wants to send a message.

What did you put in between the sensors?

I don't know what you mean but the purpose of doing this mod is to make the tpms light to turn off. It sending a signal if the light is not on.

I dont understand this.. If ya upgrade new aftermarket rims and they wont fix the TPMS system in it. All you do is put two TPMS together with zip ties and put them in the glove box.. It will work?

Why did you change the pics of the original thread? You should have left those and then added your upgrade/update further down the thread. Peoples responses would have made more sense.

Will this trick work indefinitely or just temporary? It would be a lifesaver for all of us. Do we still need to program the sensors from Lexus?

Yes. It will work cause what you doing is sending a signal to the tpms ecu. The main purpose is to turn off the light. You can't install the sensors on most aftermarket rims. You can also make the pipe bomb that so many on this forum have done. Or you can put the sensors in your spare tire and hope that you're never going to have a blowout.

I hope it will last for a long time. I can't tell you how long it will last cause I just did this mod. The only thing that will fail would the tension of the zip ties. You don't have to program the sensors as long as you are using the same sensor that came with your car.

Nice discovery!
BTW, were you able to use tpms sensors from a toyota tacoma on your IS? If so, can you share with us, what year the tacoma was? I'm asking because the sensors on tacoma are sold for much cheaper compared to the Lexus ones.

I got the 07 tacoma tpms. Since I work for a Toyota dealership, I was able to program it as a second set. If you don't know it by now, you can have two sets of tpms program on the IS. You have the main and 2nd. When you use your aftermarket rims use the toggle switch on the dash to switch to 2nd.
