Default Ultra Sale

Amazon has the Silverstar Ultras on sale for $23.99 a pair. I found them to be the closest color match to the OEM HIDs (I use them in the fogs).

The regular Silverstars lasted me a year and half. The Ultras are supposed to last longer. I have a set for over a year now. At $23.99 for the set, if I get 2+ years I will be happy. They produce the color I really like (bright white with no blue). MAKE SURE YOU DON'T TOUCH THE GLASS! I use latex gloves when I install them, just in case.

Must be the regular Silverstars that blow out early.
That's a great deal for the Ultra's.
List is $49.99.

I have these in my Jeep and 3000GT and they last about a year. I just had a foglight go out on my 3000gt and both fogs went out on my Jeep. So I ordered 3 sets from moodenterprises on ebay for $19 a set plus $5.60 shipping and .65 s/h for each additional set. I got the 9006 ultras for the fogs on the IS and two sets of 9005 for the fogs on the jeep and Mitsu.

I had a set of these in my accord and I would be lucky if they lasted 1.5 years. 1 year seemed to be average.

Do you have the Ultra's or the regular Silverstars? Because the regular Silvestras last about a year and the Ultra's are suppose to last longer.

I read somewhere though that if you wipe the bulb with a clean cloth before installng, that they last a bit longer. I don't know if it's just coincidence or not but I tried that with the regular Silverstars and it actually lasted me a little over a year but thats with the DRL which never turns off. Before when I didn't wipe the bulbs, the regular Silverstars lasted around 6-8 months on the same car with DRL's.

I just noticed they are offering it with a $10 rebate. When it comes to automotive parts, I can never trust mail-in rebates. For the most part, they never come. I think have about one or two "pending" rebates for the regular Silverstars that I've just gotten tired of.

They suggest wiping the bulbs because of the oils on your hand.
When the bulk gets hot, the oils increase the temperature a bit, which inturn burns the bulb prematurly.

^^^ Makes sense, so I guess it does work but weren't you not supoose to avoid touching the bulbs directly at all? Anywho, it's good to know the reasoning behind it though.
