Question Sunroof not working - need your input

Did a quick search and did not find anything....I had my sunroof in the tilt position today and now it wont close. I haven't done any upgrades that would tamper with the electronics (other than HID over 1 year ago). The sunroof was NOT making any abnormal noise. Just wanted to know if there is something I can try at home before taking it tonight to the dealer. Would appreciate your input.

I don't know but I'd check the fuses if you don't get any action with the sun roof controls.

I had the same problem a few months back. I was not able to fix it by myself and the dealer had to fix it. It was something electronic and didn't require any parts, etc.

Edit: BTW, mine tried to close (Still had motor movement) but would automatically go back to the open tilt position after its failed attempt to close. I don't know if you have the same symptoms.

I had this happen once. I think in the manual it explains a way to force close it. I believe it's to push the button in the close position for 10 seconds; I don't remember off hand. After I did this, it functioned properly.

This one is totally dead. No motor sound.

Awesome - thanks that worked, but it does not open or close when pressing for a second or side when turning the dial (like it used to). Just when I push in the dial for like 10 seconds. Any ideas why? What could have happened? Would disconnecting the battery reset/fix this?

Got back from the dealer. It seems you have to hold down the sunroof button in and wait for the sunroof to do a complete cycle (open/close). Hope this information will help someone else in the future.

I started a thread about this few weeks ago. It was because I opened it when there was frozen water on top of my roof. When I brought it into the dealer they claimed it was "dirty". So they "cleaned and lubricant" and it was fixed. 20k miles on my car I really don't think my sunroof was dirty, they just couldn't find a better way of describing it? Oh yeah almost forgot they made 2 long SCRATCHES on my damn roof while "cleaning" it.
