I puchased a new filter the otherday. It was A5 instead of A3. I did some Club searching and some internet searching and there was a post here in November where an AWD IS250 had the same thing happen to him and everyone told him they used A3's. The invoice states "04152-YZZA5 replaces 04152-3:" Does anyone have any Lexus info about replacing the A3 with A5. From my searching it seems Lexus did the samething, going from A2 to A3 a while back. I mean, the invoice says so but I guess it comes down to not knowing whether or not to trust the local parts dept. Well, I guess I'm really just venting but I would like to know if anything "official" is out.
I became kind of obsessed with this, did some moe searching. A year old Toyota forum thread talked about the A2 filter being the same as the A3 filter, and the number YZZA2 number being stamped on the new YZZA3 filter. So,I pull out the new filter from my 04152-YZZA5 box and stamped on th paper is....15613-YZZA2. I guess Toyota/Lexus changed the # again but didn't think the customer needed to know.
I just bought is350 oil filter from sewell lexus and they sent me the A5. I think I'm going to call them back to make sure this is the right part number.
The 04152-YZZA5 is for AWD models and 04152-YZZA3 is for IS250 and 350 RWD. I've heard that the YZZA5 will work on either model so long as the plastic piece is discarded. MSRP on both filters from Lexus is about $6.50
i work in parts at a lexus dealership and we no longer use A2 or A3 filters, they've all been replaced by the A5, so it's not your dealership making a mistake
I just received my shipment of 10 oil filters from Sewell, and they all say A5. It was purchased through the 2012 IS350 (the car I have is 2012 IS350 RWD) category. Good to know I won't have to ship it back. Thanks for the info!
I ordered the A3 from my local Lexus dealer this was their response: The A3 filter is the same as an a5; a5 comes with a drainage port the A3 does not - both have the same paper element with the proper “A2” marking
