Default This Better Be Right

OK. For those of you who have been following my saga, here's the latest on my situation. In November, we got a call from our salesperson and he told us that our car would be coming in December. We were so excited, because we had originally ordered our car in May and were screwed because the person running the dealership had not really order our car, he had been trying to find one somewhere else to trade. He was fired, so we started over with a new order at the end of September, beginning of October.

So, I called again today and got a manager. I was told that they have a build confirmation and that we will be getting our car on January 15th. He didn't have a VIN# yet. I asked him how he knew that we would be getting it then, and he told me that he would e-mail me the paperwork. He also told me that I was lucky because there was a price increase and I wouldn't be affected by it. ????????? I told him if they had gotten me my car in the first place, they wouldn't have had to worry about such things. I couldn't believe it!!! That was this morning. I still haven't gotten anything. So later I e-mailed him to make sure that he got the e-mail right and to remind him in case he forgot. Nothing. I called our salesperson who wasn't in in the morning, and he told me that he would find out and call me back. Still nothing.

If our car is coming January 15th, what should we have in our hands by now. By when should we have a VIN#?

I'm so disappointed. I wanted the big bow and everything. And those Lexus commercials just keep mocking me!!!!!!

Funny how Lexus has such great cars and customer service, yet mess up so fierce on something as simple is special orders.

you should shop around and if you can find the exact car you want then just cancel this special order from this dealership. you shouldn't depend on one dealership because they say whatever to get your business.

We can't find one like it. We've tried. The only reason that we are trying again with this dealership is that they promised to do it right this time with the assistance of the district manager. If I don't hear from them by tomorrow, I'll give him a call.

Once the "Special Ordered" Lexus is loaded on the Boat in Japan... Lexus HQ in Torrance receives the manifest with built VINs...

Once they get it, they transmit it to the dealerships in the bi-monthly allocation completed reports..

If its True, you should have a VIN# in the next couple of weeks..

You are almost there!!!

At minimum they should have a copy of the "Special Request" Order form, accepted by Japan approx 10/20-10/22 in your folder.

I also predict your car will have a built date of "12/07"

Joe Z

p.s. - I think I did give you a mid January Delivery in your prior thread....

Sounds like you've been getting jerked around and the run around if you ask me. I think by now I'd of taken my business elsewhere regardless of who said what... Anyway, best of luck and I hope you get your car soon - very soon!

It all sounds reasonable except for the "price increase" comment which sounds like pure BS, and which makes me wonder if the rest of their statements are true. You are in it for the ride now, but I'd push, push, push to get this paperwork which should clarify things. Keep calling and don't let them ignore you. It's only four weeks to mid-January so you are in the home stretch.

Unless Lexus has changed their procedures within the past 2 years, I recall once the car has been allocated to the dealership is when they get the vin #.
This is usually 2 weeks prior to your car coming in.....3 weeks at the absolute MOST. Jan 15 vs Dec 17 is still a month away.

I hope you do get that vin # soon and they should save a "big red bow" for you in Jan.

If you are using any of the special "December to Remember" financing/leasing please remember to get yourself pre-approved!

Keep us posted.

Thanks so much guys for your encouragement and advice. After I got off of the phone the first place I came was to you! I think I'll insist on that bow!

JoeZ, you called it. Evitzee, you're always there for me.

Asian Girl, I can get 5.90% financing at our credit union. With December to Remember, are there any rates better than that?
