Default 2IS Against The Wind

I notice that when I'm driving against the wind, or on a very windy day, I can really feel the turbulance. Is his normal? I usually don't feel that much turbulance on my old Honda Accord......

Wind going laterally against any car/truck/motorcycle will cause turbulence.

You shouldn't feel too much turbulence with headwind, as the IS has one of the lowest drag coefficients in the market...

Lowest in its class, isn't it?

Hmmm, I wonder why it seems so hard to keep straight during windy driving...

most likely your tires or an alignment issue.

Any problems at all when its not windy?

The IS isn't the best car for letting the driver know what's going on where the rubber hits the pavement. It's not the worst either.

Edit: I've found with the 90-year-old-enabling light steering, it can be hard to keep the car going straight on uneven surfaces, etc.

Thanks 509....I think its just 90 year old light steering that you mentioned....Just thought I'd post something up in case other IS owners have the same problem.

When its not windy, I experience a slight veering, but agian, thats just becasue of the light steering issue.

The combination of very light steering, tramlining and high speed never makes for a stable ride or confidence-inspiring handling. Add to that wind and you're in for an interesting ride.

I'd check the wear on your tires to make sure that they are wearing evenly, just in case.

The 2IS has a coefficient of drag of just .28
The E92 BMW 3 series coupe has a cd of .30 for comparison

Coefficient of drag concerns the car moving forward through the airstream, it has nothing to say about how the vehicle handles a crosswind.

Isn't that why people are installing aircraft wings on their trunks? I thought those are designed to stabilize the car?

Or even better comparison, 2IS coefficient drag 0.28. Porsche 911 GT3 coefficient drag 0.29. So for the IS being a lux sports car and having a better coefficient drag that a true sports car is really impressive.

Yeah, except the GT3 requires a large amount of downforce from its spoiler. Big spoilers on the IS just require a large lack of taste.

^^

Bichon, he said 'Against the wind' I understood that to mean 'into the wind' not crosswinds. If he had mentioned his car tends to swerve or pull easily with the wind you would be right. But I'm pretty sure he means headwinds.
(if not, my bad)
