Default Converting DRL/Highbeam using HID KIT

I know no one has done it before, or to my knowledge. I'm going to try using a HID kit as the high beam/DRL. I want a bright DRL, but without the yellow color. Most bulbs i have tried are not bright enough, so i'm planning to use a 10,000k HID kit to test it. I'll post results when i receive my HID kit and put it into my car. Feel free to comment. Leave the flaming to my PM which i know some of you would do so.

Wouln't that be a problem because of low voltage? I was gonna do the same thing but read about the flickering problem so that stopped me. But can't wait to hear and see the results!

Default done it and lost a 2 good kits on the process

I tried this before and in the first case I got flickering and the kit eventually died. the second case was not much better. I eventually decided to go with the highest end PIAA PLASMA SPARK 8000K halogen bulba ($134) from Japan and that worked perfectly for color?HIGH BEAM FUNCTION and lasted months now..

really? what brand were they?

Is it possible to use like a splitter or something to draw power from the low beams?

Alright..For those who care, i just installed 10,000k HIDs as my highbeams. So far i turned on my high beams and they aren't flickering. The DRL is also turned off when driving. I will take pictures when i get my camera.

If the DRLs are turned off then yea they won't flicker but when you use HIDs as DRLs they will flicker because voltage complications.

Yeah, but somehow the DRL is turned off. I don't see it on when i'm driving. I have one BRIGHT A** HIGHBEAM!

Also my 9005 HID kit came with this 'warning cancellation' and maybe thats the solution to the flickering.

Mind sharing what brand? I was thinking of getting the GP Thunder Pro kit and it claims this:

Note: Most of aftermarket HID Conversion Kits don't work with luxury cars, especially if the cars have a circuit protection computer. To solve the common technical issues which known as suddenly shut down of lights, lights don't turn on, and flicking, GP Thunder Pro HID Kits are special made to work with all luxury car and eliminate the technical issues, the result is perfect and even better and brighter than stock HID lighting found on today's luxury cars.

But since you didn't have any problems with yours I might consider getting that.

Some guy in the 2GS board put HID's where his DRL's are, he got flamed big time, the housing reflects light for hi-beam so putting in a HID bulb to run all the time is just gonna blind ppl everywhere you go if you use it as a DRL...

Wait... didnt you say your DRL's are off??? Keep them that way if you have a HID in there...Turn on your hi-beam and park on the street, now get another car and dive past it/reverse up too it. IF its too bright then you for sure dont want it on for DRL...

I myself never use the hi-beams so the 1watt LED works for me.

why would one wants to put HID on highbeam? You gonna blind the hell out of ppl, make it dangerous for incoming traffic.

To me it's a waist of money to put HIDs on high beams if it will not be used much. But if you have money to burn, why not.
