Default Switching dealerships...

I'm not happy with the service that I've been receiving from my dealer's service department. Is it possible to get complimentary service (1k, 5k, car washes) done at a different dealership than the one I bought my car at? The other dealership is 20 miles away from the one I bought the car from.

Thanks.

Generally speaking, yes. The 5k is given by Lexus, so all dealers will honor it. The car wash is complimentary, but they usually give that to all patrons, not just those who purchased the car.
I bought my car out of state and haven't had any problems at any dealer.

You can take your car to any dealer you want. But if the dealer is giving you complimentary oil changes (mine does) they will not be transferable since they are offered by the dealer, not Lexus. All Lexus dealers will wash your car when you have it serviced, but I always ask them NOT to wash it. It isn't worth anything to me, and just gives them a chance to mess up the finish.

There is no problem switching dealers, but stick with one. Ummm depending on dealers they usually give priority to customers that bought vehicles from them, don't get me wrong they won't deny you service or treat you like crap. When I mean "Priority" I mean loaner cars, faster appointments, and that’s it. Here in CA I bought mine from South Bay Lexus and they put a "Preferred South Bay Customer" sticker on my windshield.

That is not always the case. Most service departments are a different business group than the sales group, so you won't get any better treatment. I bought at a dealer in Houston, but the Austin dealer is closer, so that is where I go. I've only been there twice but have gotten good service both times. I don't even think the service center knows where you bought your car, or cares. Now I get the service reminders and coupons from the Austin dealer. It was seamless. Bottom line, go to the dealer where you get the best service, you owe nothing to the selling dealer.

They also put the "Preferred South Bay Customer" sticker on the top right corner of the windshield of my dad's S63 AMG. He bought it at Mercedes-benz of South Bay.

Don't hesitate to try another dealer if you aren't satisfied with the service you are getting. The problem for a lot of people is the Lexus dealer network is spread so thin that the drive to the next dealer is daunting. If you live in an area with multiple dealers you owe it to yourself to try the alternatives. Lexus, overall, has a very good reputation so your odds of finding another poor service department should be small. Good luck.

Any Lexus dealer can lookup and find the selling Lexus dealer.

Any Lexus dealer can lookup and find the entire history of the work performed on a Lexus car as long as it was serviced at a Lexus dealer and a repair order was opened and closed on it. Service work and warranty work can all be looked up. And no if you have your car serviced at a Toyota dealership this service record won't be updated.

If you have a delear that you're not satisfied with their service I would highly recommend having a word with the service manager of that dealership. Your service manager should have the intention of keeping you there as a customer.

There isn't a problem with switching dealerships. However, you reduce your chances of getting goodwill consideration if you don't stick to one dealer. Goodwill considerations are cases that are handled independantly. They are not considered part of a class action or considered a known problem even if they are. If you have a problem that you think should be part of this type of consideration it should be talked over with your service manager and service consultant. Of course, this will require it being handled as rationally as possible. Throwing your hands up or raising your voice instantly nullifies it and could result in termination of business of dealer (and Lexus) and the client. They prefer to listen, help you out and hope to keep you as a client. The are aware that high quality of service will net them client loyalty and returned service and sales. There is a saying in most business " You spend 10% of your time with the 90% and 90% of your time with the 10%". If you end up as the later they won't necessarily strive for the need to have your repeated business.

And yes most dealer would offer complementary washes to and Lexus vehicle and some dealers would even do so to any vehicle of a very good client. Bare in mind that if you've had poor weather for a long time and it finally pays off, there will be the entire community there to get their car wash. Some of the dealers might only offer washes from a certain time frame since there will be a backup of serviced cars that require car washes as well and will need to have these cars cleaned up before the client picks up their cars. These are the paying cars so they do have a higher degree of priority. If you're stopping by your Lexus dealer for a complementary car wash give them (and yourself) enough time to do so. Make a visit to the sales floor and take a look at a couple of models. Bring your laptop and surf the net. Most dealers have WiFi. And although you could tip the guy who brings up your car, he is just a valet and won't share with the guys back there who wash your car for you. Bring them a 12-pack of cokes and tell your valet to give it to the car wash guys. You'll be surprised of how well they will take care of your car since they know you care for them.
