Question No TPMS, Low Tire Warning?!

My Low Tire Warning display came on, yet I don't have my TPMS sensors since I'm running aftermarket wheels. Does this sound right

BTW I checked the air pressure and filled all 4 tires with air but the warning still shows.

If you did not install the TPMS sensors, you will keep having that warning indefinately. There is no known way to turn TPMS off other then putting the sensors in a sealed tube or spare in the trunk.

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but if didn't install tpms on the aftermarket wheels, why would you expect that adding and checking the air pressure would magically turn off the warning indicater?!?

Do a search, there are some really creative work arounds for not installing the tpms in aftermarket wheels.

Hmmmm maybe I should've been more specific. It's not the usual warning that comes up after pulling off the stock wheels/sensors. That's been on for about 7 months now, ever since I put my aftermarket wheels on.

This is a completely different warning that displays the words Low Tire. It came on for the first time last week, then turned off once I filled the tires with air. Yesterday, same thing except this time it didn't go away after putting air in the tires.

It just seems so odd to me since the TPMS sensors have been off for months and all of a sudden this warning comes out of nowhere. And how is it sensing low tire pressure without TPMS?!

With out the TPMS sesnors installed, the system would not react to any amount of air you put in or take out of your after market wheel/tire combo...

I think the "Low Tire" warning is just a coincidence..

The car probably thinks your running on no air since the sensor light has been on soo long...

Are your old TPMS sensors in the garage where you park?

From Bichon on another thread:

The spare tire has a normal rubber valve stem and cap, and can be checked and refilled with a normal tire gauge and air compressor. I know, I check mine regularly. The Toyota TPMS sensor has a metal valve stem and an aluminum cap with O-ring. It looks totally different than the 30 cent non-TPMS one in the spare.

This topic has come up before, and another moderator, Lobuxracer, even removed and deflated his spare to prove the point. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...5&postcount=19
