Default Navigation "Night Mode"?

At night, the white background of the navigation map is a little too bright and gets distracting. Is there a "night mode" with a dark background like other cars have?

yes. You have to turn the dimmer switch, which is to the left of the steering wheel.

go into the settings and look for "night mode" when your headlights are on.

Exactly what he/she said...just until you hear the click. Then it should switch between day/night mode automatically.

on the right? The only things i see on the right are 2 switches for traction control or something, no *****.

The **** on the left however is the one above the "< on/off >" button. Is that the one you're talking about?

The **** he is talking about is to the left of the steering column, and controls the dimming of the gauge lights. When the gauge lights are set to full brightness (a click will be heard), the nav display will remain in day mode at all times. When they are set below full brightness, the display will switch to night mode when it's dark outside.

Here is the ****.... (above on/off button)

When you turn down the brightness @ night, the Nav screen will switch from day to night mode as well...
However, your headlights must be ON too..

THANKS to all of you for the advice. I tried this during the daytime [I]with[I] my headlights on and it didnt exactly work. But I tried again during the dark and I smiled when the map switched to a black background.

I thought that **** was for the instrument cluster only, which is why i never touched it.

yeah that's what I thought, too. The first time I drove my car was literally off the lot and to Boston, so I was trying to figure out alot as I went along. ;-) I called a buddy and asked him to google it because the screen was driving me nuts and I couldn't read the manual. When he called back he said "you're not going to believe this...." It seemed way too simple LOL...

Yep. Only turn the **** all the way to the right if you want day mode all the time.

Just to the left of the click is the optimal setting. Leaves cluster lights on and the Nav will toggle between Day and Night mode depending on when the external lights activate/deactivate, respectively.

Gotta love it
