it doesnt' do anything unless u hold it down for a few seconds. Just make sure you don't have a turn coming up because the power steering will be off too and you wont' be able to turn at all.

and yes i tried

not only will it be harder to turn it may also "lock" up the steering wheel and possibly lose control of the car...

I've also tried this, and s6 4rings is absolutely right. Pressing it, holding it down... doesn't matter. The car will remain running.

there's a safety feature for that:

the car will shut off ONLY if you hold the button for 3 sec while you drive the car........

the placard should be hanging in the shift **** before you buy it......

I remember the salesman for Lexus telling me about some crazy person he was riding with who was test driving the car. He actually turned the engine off on his by just that, holding the start/stop button down for 3 secs.

From my observation, the steering lock doesn't engage until one of the doors is opened. It would be foolish for Lexus to allow the steering lock to engage if the motor is shut off when the car is in motion, since this scenario could happen if the gas pedal got hung up on a floor mat or otherwise malfunctioned -- and the only thing worse than trying to stop a car hurtling out-of-control at 100+ MPH, is trying to do it with the steering locked.

I think the service rep told me that your car will stop and blow up if you press the button while driving. He told me with confidence.

I would imagine there is a safety feature here. Maybe you have to shift to N (while the car is running then press the button) before the car turns off. Same w/ starting the car. You have to step on the brake pedal. Scared to try it though.

hahahaha. wouldn't want that to happen huh?

I too did try pressing the button while driving but nothing has happened. As for holding it down for at least 3 seconds. I don't have the "molabows".
