My windshield on my SC4 is so slanted that I've never ever had an actual rock chip. But upon close inspection, I do notice that it looks like it had just been roughly sandblasted, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of tiny scratches and "chips" all over.

Three fairly large chips so far and we haven’t even hit 15k miles. Two have been repaired, and one new one as of yesterday. Oddly enough, no paint chips on front end, all the rock damage has been isolated to just the glass. Have had three windshield replacements on our RX 330 (well one was due to severe optical distortion on replacement glass), so far, the last one has been holding up very well.

Yes, Paint chips and windshield are inevitable. It does seem like these cars are more vulnerable though.

There are more Wong's than Chin's! Anyway, I never had a problem with chips on the windshield, but as part of a ding all protection insurance package (inside, outside, dings, and windshield) my windshield is covered for 5 years. They supposedly put something on it to make it stronger. We'll see. The whole package wasn't that expensive for 5 year coverage and I already received 2 dings the 3rd day I took the car out of the garage!

Picked up a "hard impact" stone chip resulting in 1-1/2 inch diameter crack ring around the impact point. Replace the windshield prior to Christmas with a Lexus windshield. Sadly the replacement windshield quality is not as nice as nice as the original although the windshield is labelled Lexus. After the new year, picked up another stone chip that is now 7 inch crack on the passenger windshield. Maybe it is time to shop for the bullet proof glass option?? On a more serious note, I might try an aftermarket windshield and hope that it wil deflect a few rocks before cracking my windshield.

Oh that hurts! Hope you had the insurance! I thought the Lexus windshield is supposed to repel the water. I know on my RX400h it also repels the sun so that the car doesn't get as hot in the summer.

I have about eight small chips, barely noticeable. The sound of some of them was as if it would crack.
