Anyone else thinks the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) doesn't work that well?

My left afs seems to work better then the right side. My right side is kind of almost jumpy. It's a feature that I personally don't need, but hey it came with the car.

If you want them to seem like the go further or turn more, angle them to point down more. You will really seem them moving then.

Mine works quite well, and I like it. Sure I could live without it, but I still like it. Here's a few things I've noticed. The amount the lights move in relation to the steering wheel is based on how fast the car is going. The faster you're going the more the lights move. Also the passenger side moves more then the driver side. There's probably several reasons why. I thought of a couple: 1. you don't want to blind on coming traffic by hitting them with too much of a direct beam and 2. when turning left you have more room for error compared to the right side where the shoulder/sidewalk would be. Also I think that when turning left only the driver's side light moves and vice versa when turning right. I'm not positive on this though.

I think I read somewhere that the AFS only works when traveling at least 5mph.

If you go to large parking lot with a wall and approach the wall from about 200 ft., at about 15 mph and turn the wheel (back and forth) you will see that the system works very well. You only need to slightly turn the wheel. After you now where/how to see the beam movement, you will able to see it as you are driving on the streets. They really work very well.

That sounds about right. If you are turning and come a stop the lights will center.

Sykocus, I'm guessing you drive on the left side of the road? Because in the US the passenger only turns 5 degrees.

the system works via the sensors on your sway bars not really how far your steering wheel turns. when you turn into a curve the car body rolls a certain way and triggers the sensors on the sway bars to turn the lights.

Mine works well and very noticable.

Nope I drive on the right. I've been without my car for almost a month but I'm almost positive my passenger side moves way more then my drivers side.

I have the feature, and it works really well. It certainly doesn't take two turns of the wheel; if yours does it sounds like something is wrong.

I think they swing too "dramatic".....would be nicer if it goes slower....

can oncoming traffic or others see the actual projector swivel. if so they must think that is quite impressive. "hey my headlight can move!"

Ummm. No. The auto-leveling feature works off the sensors connected to the control arms, not the swaybars. The left-right functionality is controlled by the steering rack, and it is speed sensitive. AFS uses multiple inputs and is controlled by yet another ECU in the car.
