Default Brake "Moaning" Noise

Hey my IS350's brakes recently started making a "moaning" or rubbing noise. I'm not sure how to describe it.

Its only when I'm at slow speeds and the last 2-3 seconds before coming to a stop. If I let up on the brake pedal, it will make the same noise.

I only have 7k miles....any ideas as what it could be?

You should check the wear on your tires. The tires could be "cupping" or wearing uneven which would cause a weird humming/rubbing noise when you slow down. When this happens you usually don't hear it at higher speeds; just when you slow down.

I just put some new wheels/tires on my car 20"Auto Couture Latives. It was making the same noise when I had the stocks wheels and tires....

It's ok my young friend. Once you get older and meet more girls, you'll know how to describe it....

It's not unusual with the original pads. The replacement low dust pads available from Lexus at no charge do not do this unless you very carefully induce it. Even then, it is very challenging to make these pads groan at low speeds and I've tried a few times.

Hmmmm, thanks for the information.

I guess I'll have to get the TSIB replacement pads. I'm about 1500 mi away from 10k I guess I can wait until then

I'm glad you posted this. My car is making the exact same noise when I hit the brakes at low speeds. I might take it in to get the TSIB done soon.

i think your tires are cupping, i doubt if it your brakes. your tires will make that sound at low speeds, which sounds like your brakes are going bad, but in actuality it is your tires cupping! take it to get it checked out!

i have 4500 miles on mine and my pads do the same thing. it doesn't bother me though. i think i'm gonna get the dust free pads when i get my 5k service done though, just so i won't have to clean my wheels so often during the winter.

^no it's definitely not the tires. i'm not going to complain about the sound though because the brakes are incredibly effective and that's more important to me than having quiet brakes and then slamming into something although the dust free pads should solve the problem of noise and dust at the same time.

I have the same noise on my 350 and it's the OEM pads as lobux said. Just get them replaced for free by the TSIB and the noise will go away.
