I have been in a Mercedes 55SL AMG convertible which cost about $150,000. Lots of people would make comments and give us the thumb up when they see us besides them. How often does this happen in the IS Lexus?
When I drove my client's Ferrari Enzo three years ago I got lots of comments and thumbs up too...
I think your comparison is a bit off. I do get some looks every now and then, but you'll be disappointed if you're expecting the same kind of reaction as a 55SL AMG...

these cars are beinging to become as common as a honda accord, and unless your car is modded to the point of no return nobody really will notice.
Where i live thier are now 5 ISx50's on the same street.
Nothing special.

i see some looks every now and then, but i never got a thumbs up
... probably because i dont look at other drivers because they might think i want to race or something.
but anyway, i would love for a vietnamese tranny to compliment me.

just one time, a guy pulled up next to me and said i had a nice car. other than that i just drive without a shirt on, stunna shades, fitted cap, with the system THUMPING, windows down!. that tends to get smiles from girls....TRY IT. you can do it an 85 toyota tercel. (k maybe not).
Back in '05 when I first got the car, the second generation IS was a new model and I used to get quite a few questions and compliments. Since then, the 2IS (and other L-Finesse Lexus models) have become commonplace, and it's rare that anyone notices the car.
Funny thing, other IS drivers don't even acknowledge each other. While Jeep Wrangler and Corvette owners often wave at each other, when I've tried this with other ISs on the road the drivers look back at me like I have two heads.

I dont think you will get anything like what you got in the MB.. Think about it, thats a 150k car, three times more expensive than the IS. Of course youre going to get some more attention. Cars like that are DESIGNED to get more attention. The IS really is a nice commuter car. Sure a few people will give you a second look, I get that a lot. Couple girls will smile at you and some older lady will give you a thumbs up while you cruise through a parking lot maybe. But no one is going to go crazy over it. If yout want that effect, save your money and get a lambo or something!
I see a girl in an IS250 almost every day - we exchange smiles.
I have had comments and questions about the car at gas stations. Last night I picked up some food at a drive thru where the 17 year old cashier told me I had a hella nice car.
