Most of the new synthetic oils far outlast and outperform the old oils you may be used to. With the e90 BMW, many are waiting for at least 20k to change the oil, and the oil analysis results aren't that bad at all.
Thanks......I had heard something about it but thought it was weird.
my car does that when i brake... the dealer said its the asb kicking in.
LOL i had the same problem after i did my TSIB pads
the SA i was dealing with said the same thing... after 10mins or so argueing with him, gave him the finger and told him to bring out a tech since we werent getting no where.... the tech located the problem and no more clicking.
god damm i hated that SA, gave me **** too when I wanted the TSIB on pads to be done
Recently though I've gotten this really weird tapping sound...it's a single tap/clunk when I accelerate from a stop and when I brake. If I accelerate and it pops once, it won't make that noise anymore until I stop and accelerate again. I've checked everything that is possible for me to check without ripping things apart. Anybody have this sound or know of what could possibly be causing it?
Yes, my car has been doing that too. At first, I only noticed the "tap-clunk" upon braking, but since I read your post, I realize it's been making a similar noise upon acceleration, and specifically, when the speedometer hits 30mph. Upon acceleration, it only makes that sound exactly at 30mph. I also noticed the transmission is shifting from 3rd to 4th gear at that point. I'm not sure if the two separate noises (upon braking vs. acceleration) are related or not. In my car, the braking "click-clack" sound appears to come from the left rear, while the acceleration "cluck-cluck" sound seems to come from the right front. The front/acceleration noise can be best described as a pebble that flew up and collided with the wheel well area ... or a metal strap that's slapping around. The braking noise only occurs upon the very initial brake application, after the car had been stopped/parked; i.e., the very first braking after I leave home in the morning, and the very first braking after I leave work in the evening. The braking "click-clack" is somewhat more audible than the acceleration "cluck-cluck".
I wonder if anyone else noticed this problem? If so and you've had it fixed, what was/were the causes? Some posters mentioned it might be related to the ABS system and/or parking brake cable?
Thank you for any other updates or insights anyone might have.
