Default Question on lifting the car

Where can I place my hydraulic jack under the front to lift the car for an oil change? Can anyone show me a picture of this or describe it in words? The diagram I found in the owner's manual is unclear. Thanks!

I did, but the image is confusing. I looked under the car and couldn't find what they were pointing to. Any tips?

Just to be safe, I think you should pay someone to do it for you.

It points to a cross member brace, just go under and look its there. Just look at the oil pan and go back alittle, think, a brace under the trans.

Default Ramps

They are the safest bet for oil changes... No concerns with where to jack the car and no worries about the jack giving out on you.

If you want to jack up the car read the part on changing a tire. I think thats the part you need to be aware of...DON'T get under the car with it just on a jack. It's real unsafe. Buy a set of ramps for $30

My jack (not the spare tire jack) doesn't fit under the front of the car. Does that mean that my jack is not low enough in the front and is not right for the car? Is there a work around? Can I lift the car from it's side?

Also, what is the proper place to postion jack stands?

juncho, i know you dont wanna hurt your baby, which is why your asking all the questions BUT your over thinking now. If your floor jack dont fit from the front, go from behind the front tire to get to the jack point. If theres still no room, use the tire jack to make the room to get the floor jack under the car.

Jack stands, put them where the manual says to put the tire jack, its reinforced at those places.

Jacking this car up is a PITA. The "tire jack points" are not reinforced enough for a hydraulic jack OR jackstands, and the front and rear jack points are not reachable unless you raise the car by some other means first (ramps, tire jack, etc.). I'm really not looking forward to the time that I have to lift all 4 wheels off the ground simultaneously (bleed brakes, etc.).
